Los Mochis to Chihuahua
Saturday
- Saturday, November 1- 8, 2003
It is a great pleasure to share with
you the incredible landscape of Mexico known as the Copper Canyon,
Tarahumara land. To provide new opportunities to see and walk
various parts of this amazing land we differ our itineraries from
year to year.
ITINERARY
This
year we begin in Los Mochis, the western terminus of the Chihuahua
al Pacifico train line. This is a perfect beginning for a week
of exploring different views of Mexico¹s grand canyon system.
The train ride will be spectacular, showing off the amazing engineering
that went into creating this railway.
We
will meet you in Los Mochis and take you to El Fuerte, a charming
and historic town, to spend two nights before boarding the train
on Monday for an unforgettable rail journey to Bahuichivo, then
on to the village of Cerocahui, our home for the next two nights.
Located in a valley, Cerocahui was settled in the 1600¹s
and is a unique and real Tarahumara village, continuing a way
of life which is centuries old. Then on to Divisadero to stay
on the edge of Urique Canyon. What a view!!
We
will walk into the canyons, explore and become acquainted with
the Tarahumara and their ways. Friday we depart Divisadero via
van, stopping in Creel and Cuahtecmoc, on our way to spend our
last night together in the city of Chihuahua.
Tour includes lodging, breakfasts, five
lunches, six dinners, all transport from Los Mochis airport to
Chihuahua airport, and guided walking/hiking led by local guides.
Tour fee: $1695 ($395 add'l single occupancy).
Tour deposit: $800. Reservation deadline: October 1, at which
time the full fee is due.
