Angel Fire, Taos & Jemez Springs, New MexicoSaturday - Saturday, July 17 - 24, 2004

Join us in Angel Fire during balloon festival weekend. On the edge of the Enchanted Circle, we have wonderful hiking opportunities and in the high country it's unusual for the temperature to get above 80°. After four nights in the Wildflower Bed and Breakfast in Angel Fire we travel to Taos and spend two nights at Casa Benavides. Our last night will be in the Jemez Mountain Inn in Jemez Springs.

ITINERARY

Saturday evening arrival in Angel Fire to settle in before a welcoming dinner.

Early Sunday morning, watch balloons prepare for takeoff and see them in the air. Return to Wildflower for breakfast and spend the day walking and exploring the Angel Fire area.

Monday, travel through Cimarron Canyon, stopping to hike up Clear Creek trail. Then on to Cimarron, an historic town on the Santa Fe Trail with interesting sights including the St. James Hotel, that housed the famous and infamous.

Tuesday, hike the Elliott Barker Trail, with spectacular views of Angel Fire, to Bull Meadow. Complete the day with a Cowboy Evening Bar-B-Q.

Wednesday, leave Angel Fire and travel west to Taos. Venture out to the Taos Pueblo and avail yourself of the many sights, galleries and shops that Taos offers.

Thursday, travel the Enchanted Circle to Questa and the Columbine Trail - a beautiful hike along a river and through meadows. Visit Red River before returning to Taos.

Friday, it's south to Bandelier National Monument, in beautiful canyon country with cliffs and pueblo ruins of late prehistoric period. Our last night is in Jemez Springs where, flesh and spirit willing, you will find a hot spring to relax in before heading home the next day.

Tour fee includes guided hiking, local transport, lodging, breakfasts, trail lunches and some dinners. Note: Tour limited to eight participants. Tour fee: $1695 ($450 add'l single occupancy). Tour deposit: $800. Reservation deadline: June 7th, at which time the full fee is due.

Transportation is available from the Albuquerque airport.
